When I look at the Mapplethorpe image, I automatically think of the picture as an erotic image, even though it also seems to also be an image based on the form of the body. The image of Guinevere also seems to be an erotic image. She is dressed in voyeuristic clothing purposefully meant to entice the male viewer. The scopophilia one experiences while looking at these images I believe is what the artists were trying to achieve. The Mapplethorpe image does not have the subject’s face showing, making the body form the main focus. The other image has the subject staring directly at the viewer.
